What’s Happening:
Joe Biden hoped to salvage his presidency with the nomination of a new Supreme Court justice. With voters turning on him left and right, the old man must have assumed replacing Justice Breyer with a woman of color would have won back some of them. Doesn’t seem to be that way.
Voters aren’t impressed with his use of identity politics. And the women he did nominate might face plenty of opposition, given her views.
We expected Biden to pick someone that would make the radical left happy. And it seems he found someone with a history supporting criminal justice reform. Ketanji Brown Jackson looks more like a political activist than a sober-minded juror.
And now, the first domino falls, as ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee says his vote is likely no.
From The Hill:
Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), an influential Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, is signaling he’s leaning toward voting “no” on President Biden’s nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, despite voting last year to confirm her to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals…
“The reason Michelle Childs is not the nominee is because of a concerted effort by the left to take her down and that doesn’t sit very well with me,” he said in separate remarks last week.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, appears to be voting no on Biden’s Supreme Court replacement. It appears his beef stems from a conflict over a judge he wanted Biden to nominate, Judge J. Michelle Childs. The judge hails from Graham’s home state and perhaps would have brought a more moderate view to the court.
However, Graham claims that “dark money liberal advocacy groups” forced Biden to pick Jackson, who has a much more progressive history. Graham blasted Joe, saying this nomination proves he is in the power of the radical left. Although Graham has not officially stated his position, it appears he is unlikely to vote for Biden’s pick.
Without his support, other Republicans could withhold theirs as well. If the entire bloc of Republican senators refuses to support Jackson, it is unlikely she will make it to the bench (given how the Judiciary Committee is split). It remains to be seen if Biden or Schumer can twist any conservative arms into supporting a candidate that favors “criminal justice reform.”
Jackson’s history has been recently in question. While at Harvard, she was a member of a group that welcomed a noted anti-Semite to speak. The controversy erupted in numerous protests, with professors urging students to reject the speaker’s radical views. It is possible that Republicans will uncover more skeletons from Jackson’s closet as they grill her during the process.
Key Takeaways:
Sen. Lindsey Graham appears unwilling to support Biden’s SCOTUS nominee.
Graham was encouraging Biden to pick a judge from South Carolina.
The senator claims “dark money liberal advocacy groups” manipulated Joe’s pick.

Ineptocracy
A system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.
