INEPTOCRACY CHRONICLES – Democrats Falsely Accuse Trump of Lifting Russia Sanctions – Turns Out Policy Started Under Biden
Democrats jump in with both feet only to find out is was their guy who lifted sanctions on Russia, not Trump. Then they keep lying, never correcting themselves because they know they're believed.

Washington politicians can’t seem to tell the truth these days. It’s like watching a child with chocolate all over their face insist they never touched the cookie jar. We’ve seen this story before – make a wild claim, get caught in the lie, then refuse to admit any wrongdoing.
The latest chapter in this tired saga involves Russia. For years, Democrats have obsessed over connecting President Trump to Russia. They’ve pushed this narrative so hard you’d think they were trying to sell beachfront property in Kansas.
Democrats Push False Russia Claim
House Democrats on the Foreign Affairs Committee recently fired off a bold accusation. They claimed President Trump lifted sanctions on Russia, suggesting he was somehow doing Putin a favor. They dramatically declared on social media: “While both parties in Congress push to tighten sanctions, Trump signals—again—whose side he’s on.”
From ‘The Daily Wire’:
Democrats on the House Foreign Affairs Committee were outraged that President Donald Trump lifted sanctions on Russia.
There are just two problems with that: he didn’t lift sanctions. And the policy they’re slamming began under President Joe Biden…
“While both parties in Congress push to tighten sanctions, Trump signals—again—whose side he’s on,” the official account for the Democrats on the House Affairs Committee posted on X Monday. “He won’t hold Russia accountable. Congress must.”
The policy Democrats are suddenly outraged about wasn’t created by Trump at all. It was started by President Biden back in December 2024, before Trump even took office. The Treasury Department’s renewal of a general license allowing certain Russian banks to temporarily operate without sanctions is simply continuing Biden’s policy.
A Treasury Department spokesman confirmed this fact directly: “This general license is a continuation of a general license initially granted in 2024 under the Biden administration.”
Facts Tell a Different Story
Republicans quickly called out this blatant falsehood. A Republican spokesman for the committee didn’t mince words, calling the Democrats’ claim “verifiably false” and adding that “Democrats are still grasping for anything to lie about President Trump’s record on Russia.”
Even a former Biden administration official had to admit the truth. Brad Brooks-Rubin, who served as a Senior Advisor in the Office of Sanctions Coordination at the State Department, stated plainly: “This is not a lifting of any sanctions — it simply extends a general license that was previously in place.”
The policy was actually designed to give Trump leverage in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. It allows 13 Russian financial institutions involved in civilian nuclear energy to temporarily operate without sanctions.
Democrats Refuse to Correct Their Mistake
Has the House Foreign Affairs Committee deleted their false post? Nope. They’re keeping the lie up for everyone to see.
Instead of admitting their mistake, Democrats tried to change their story. A Democratic spokesman claimed the Trump administration is “carving out exceptions” to sanctions. That’s a far cry from their original accusation that Trump was lifting sanctions altogether.
This is just the latest example of Democrats spreading fake news about President Trump and Russia. They make wild claims first and worry about facts later – if at all.
How many times will Democrats cry wolf about Russia before Americans stop listening? The American people deserve better than this dishonest political game. When politicians get caught spreading falsehoods, they should correct the record, not double down or change their story.
Next time Democrats make alarming claims about President Trump, maybe we should check if they started the policy themselves first.
Key Takeaways
House Democrats falsely claimed Trump lifted Russia sanctions when he merely continued Biden’s existing policy
Treasury Department officials and even a former Biden advisor confirmed no sanctions were actually lifted
Democrats refused to delete their misleading post even after being proven wrong
This pattern of spreading misinformation about Trump and Russia continues despite factual corrections
