In Wyoming, Republican voters decided it was time for a change when it came to Representative Liz Cheney, who spent a great deal of time attacking former President Donald Trump. Not only did Cheney criticize Trump and his policies, but she also sat on the January 6th committee that is constantly trying to tie Trump to the Capitol Hill riot. But surprisingly, she isn’t the only Republican outspoken when it comes to Trump. Representative Adam Kinzinger of Illinois recently spoke on MSNBC and explained how some party members and Christians somehow equate Trump to Jesus Christ.

Appearing on MSNBC with Alex Wagner on Tuesday, Adam Kinzinger explained how pastors around America are leading their flocks astray by aligning themselves with Donald Trump. “You have people today that, literally, I think in their heart — they may not say it — but they equate Donald Trump with the person of Jesus Christ. And to them, if you even come out against this ‘amazing man Donald Trump,’ which, obviously quite flawed, you are coming out against Jesus, against their Christian values.”
Much like Liz Cheney, Republican Adam Kinzinger also received a seat on the House Select Committee to investigate the moments leading up to the Capitol Hill riot. The Representative shared his thoughts on Donald Trump by voting to impeach him in 2021. And if that wasn’t enough, he has promoted “party raiding” to help defeat Trump in the upcoming 2022 midterm elections.
While Donald Trump is not on the ballot this coming November, he continues to support certain GOP candidates seeking election. Wanting to try and stop Trump’s winning streak when it comes to his endorsements, Adam Kinzinger called for non-Republicans to help sway the GOP. “People need to wake up to that real possibility. We have to be able to have uneasy alliances, as uneasy as they may be in this moment.”
Having watched Representative Adam Kinzinger criticize the GOP, the Republicans in office sent him a letter in February, calling him a disappointment to them and God. “We were once so proud of your accomplishments. Instead, you go against your Christian principles and join the Devil’s army (the Democrats and the fake news media).”
After receiving the letter, Adam Kinzinger noted that Americans are extremely “tribalistic” and fear being criticized by their communities. “And so you accept anything because now Republicanism or conservatism or Trumpism becomes your identity. I’ve been kicked out of my tribe, and that’s okay.”
As for Liz Cheney, she lost her primary by nearly 40 points, yet suggested her time in politics isn’t over as she hinted at a run for President of the United States.
